Early 2023: Unreleased first EP

The very start of Nekosis! In 2022, I had the idea to start a hardcore music project inspired mainly by Renard and goreshit, both of whom I had discovered through osu! in years prior, as well as planet clue's obscenely underrated "abrasive rave music" project YESCLIP. I adopted a name, taken from an ASMR roleplay video I had seen recently, downloaded LMMS, and started making stuff. In early 2023, the tracks I had completed up to that point were compiled in this first EP, which saw only a limited CD-R release given out to a few friends.

I don't plan to ever publicly release this EP, as I had zero idea what I was doing during its production and it is thus Pretty Bad™. I will say that the original version of "My Mom is a Weeb" comes from this EP, which saw a rework on CD-R Confidential Volume 2.

May 22, 2024: The Pink Album released

The Pink Album is the first public Nekosis release, consisting of tracks completed from just after the first EP's "release" in 2023 to early 2024. It's also the first release to be made entirely in FL Studio (I had recieved it as a Christmas gift in 2022). Annoyingly, when I went to make my Bandcamp page to release this, the nekosis.bandcamp.com URL was already taken by some random guy from the Netherlands who uploaded a single track in 2015 and disappeared off the face of the earth immediately after, hence why my Bandcamp URL is nekosismusic.bandcamp.com.

While it's certainly a step up from the first EP, I still don't generally think it's any good and I was still figuring out what kind of producer I even was at this point, resulting in a lot of ill-fated genre experiments here (frenchcore, uptempo, jumpstyle). It also suffered from a ridiculous amount of remixes compared to original songs (5 tracks out of 8, over half of the album, or out of 10 if you count the bonus tracks). I can't say I don't have a soft spot for it, but it definitely isn't what I would recommend new Nekosis listeners check out.

Additional fun fact: CG5 (yes, that one) owns the one and only CD copy of this album. I gave it to him as a gift in early 2025 when he visited Nashville during his tour!

June 13, 2025: CD-R Confidential Volume 1 released

CD-R Confidential Volume 1 is my second album, consisting of tracks produced from after The Pink Album's release in 2024 to the first half of 2025. Its release came after a single from it dropped a little more than 2 weeks earlier, a remix of leroy's "copyright strike my fucking nuts" (which ironically is not available on SoundCloud due to content ID). It also begins the all-lowercase titling convention for all future Nekosis tracks.

CD-R Confidential as a series was originally conceptualized as a way to dump tracks I had been working on onto a release without them necessarily needing to adhere to any particular theme. By coincidence, this ends up being mostly a mashcore album, as this was around the time I was beginning to find that the genre was particularly becoming a favorite production style of mine.

While this album still isn't my favorite, I do consider it my first release on which I have a few tracks that I am relatively still proud of (particularly "ball so hard"). It still has its issues, though: it, again, suffers from an overabundance of remixes (5 out of 10 tracks), including a "remix" of goreshit's "seriously?" that I would probably now consider a remake or edit at best, as well as some poor mixing in some of the tracks.

Fun thing, though: The leroy remix contains samples from a Gremlili stream! I redeemed a channel point reward and requested for her to say some stupid shit as samples, and she happily obliged, hence why she's credited as featured. I believe the VOD itself is now lost, unfortunately, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong on that front.

This album was also available on lathe-cut vinyl through Kunaki for a time, but I believe I ended up being the only person who bought a copy before the page went down from inactivity. ;_;

November 19, 2025: Invited to Nyaotic Records

This is probably the day that changed the entire trajectory of the Nekosis project in the best way possible. On it, Windopain, one of the owners of Nyaotic Records (the other being dj flyblown waste), a netlabel that had started releasing in June earlier that year (coincidentally, the first release on the label, the Manic Ultraviolence split between dj flyblown waste and Windopain, came out the exact same day as CD-R Confidential Volume 1!), shot me a DM. After hearing a demo I had posted in the goreshit library Discord server of what would become CDRCV2's "hyperconfidential", he asked if I would be willing to contribute a track to the label's first compilation, an offer which I accepted (more on this later).

Soon after, Windopain would invite me to the label's newly-formed Discord server where I would meet and interact with many other producers in the scene for the first time, including the aforementioned dj flyblown waste, Cephalexin, xsiyl, sexlover shinda, pukesquid, and probably many more that I'm forgetting. This was, believe it or not, the first time I had really interacted with anyone in the scene at all. I originally had conflicted feelings on lolicore, which unfortunately led to me essentially closing myself off from that section of the scene until I decided to post that demo. As I began interacting with the users in the server more, however, not only did my view change, but I realized that I love lolicore, fully, with all my heart (cue rimshot). It really is great that a bunch of weebs can get together, embrace the fact that they are, in fact, huge weebs, and make some cool music rooted in their weebery.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Windopain, dj flyblown waste, and everyone else at Nyaotic Records. Lolicore is my life now thanks to you all, and I couldn't be happier. <3 Please do check out the label's stuff at their Bandcamp or website (which I actually helped code)!

Feburary 8, 2026: NekosisTV opened

This day marks the first upload of NekosisTV, my second YouTube channel! I created it to serve as a place where I could upload "normal" YouTube videos as I had previously designated the main Nekosis channel as a music-only space. As of writing, it has 2 uploads: the welcome video below and a short film I originally did for school. Please check the channel out and subscribe if you wish! More stuff is coming... eventually.

I commissioned a PNGtuber of the Nekosis character from the amazing Kuro_Yamaii for use on this channel! While I haven't used it yet as of writing, I definitely plan to, perhaps even in the next upload! It serves as the first piece of art specifically made for the character ever (the profile picture I've been using since 2024 was made in a Picrew by Zr6Ov), and I cannot thank Kuro enough for doing such an awesome job with it! :D

March 6, 2026: "colorz powa!!" released on Nyaotic Comp

This day would finally see the release of the aforementioned first Nyaotic Records compilation with the official name of Nyaotic Comp, and with it, the first ever Nekosis compilation track, "colorz powa!!"...

Yeah, I hate this track ;_;

Okay, let me explain: When I was invited to the compilation, I had had the idea to sample the absolute banger of an OP from Mitsuboshi Colors for a while, so I went ahead and made the track... but for some reason, and I don't know if it's the way the sample was mastered or what, but the mix just sounds horrible on a lot of headphones, and wasn't great to begin with. Plus, this was during my "use the same three VEC3 kicks for everything" phase, and that coupled with the mix issue... it just makes me upset that such a flawed track was my very first compilation appearance, but what's done is done, I guess. :/ That being said, I totally want to rework this one at some point in the future.

However, the rest of the compilation is fucking awesome and you should 100% check it out right now. All the other producers did a fantastic job!

And bonus fact: Every producer featured got to submit a character to be included in the design of Nyaotron, Nyaotic's own spin on Moetron, to be put on the cover drawn by the aforementioned sexlover shinda (who is a fantastic artist both musically and visually, by the way)! I chose PillowDear, who was incorporated as the right side of her hair! :D

March 13, 2026: CD-R Confidential Volume 2 released

Shortly after Nyaotic Comp's release, I would complete my last few tracks for the second volume of CD-R Confidential and decided, considering that I had such an amazing experience interacting with the community that Nyaotic had built up to that point, that it would be a good idea to release the album with them! I sent over the pre-release of the album to Windopain and soon enough, CD-R Confidential Volume 2 was released on the Friday right after the compilation as my first ever solo release on a netlabel! It consists of tracks produced from September 2025 to March 2026 and is the longest Nekosis project so far with a runtime of just over 47 minutes.

Volume 2 was definitely put together with much more thought as to how all the tracks come together as an album and has a more cohesive mashcore feel throughout as a result. While there are still a few issues with it, such as a lack of kick variety (again, way too many VEC3 kicks), there are a lot of tracks here that I am quite proud of, my personal favorites being "bottomline2nite", "me ripping off goreshit ripping off kragle ripping off citv", and "my mom is a weeb '25" (the aformentioned rework of the track from the unreleased first EP!). It is definitely my favorite solo release I've done so far.

Also notable is the nearly 17-minute long "hyperconfidential", a goretrance-inspired dancecore marathon that switches samples every minute and a half. While it is a bit formulaic, it was the first time I tried making such a long track like that, and I am planning an eventual sequel to it!

I also put in a concious effort here to make sure the album consisted of mostly original tracks. 10 out of 12 tracks are originals here, and the remaining 2 are remixes: my remix of xsiyl's "i hate uma musume" and (I still can't believe this) a remix of the Volume 1 track "ball so hard" by wawawa!

The album also saw an extremely limited promotional CD edition of 5 given away at MTAC 2026.

May 17, 2026: Cephalexin / Nekosis split released

A little more than 2 months after CDRCV2 came the first split I've ever participated in! I reached out to Cephalexin at the end of March after previously discussing the idea of doing some sort of split with the others in the Nyaotic Discord. He accepted, and we contributed 5 tracks each to it! All of the tracks on my half were produced during April and the first half of May.

The front cover is a play on the coincidental fact that we are both from Tennessee, and are probably the only two breakcore producers from the state, hence the Wikipedia list with only 2 entries. The silhouette in the background is of the Wikipedia community mascot Wikipe-tan.

I lean a lot more into dancecore on my tracks for this, using a new method for making kicks that Windopain taught me (and I really cannot thank him enough!), my favorite track in this vein probably being "the wettest fart in the tub", which actually samples a planet clue video (hey, we've come full circle!). I even experiment with drenchcore on "check my drench!". Cephalexin's tracks are also great, and I particularly love "Michael's a Maniac" (which would see a later re-release on his solo album Unrythmic Heaven as just "Maniac", though I'm told Michael is still alive... in Detroit). The split also released alongside his solo album on Nyaotic, Avianator Experiment 2.0, which is also amazing. Please do check out his stuff, he really is a fantastic producer ^w^

I'm very happy with how this split turned out and am excited to do more collaborations like this in the future!

July 15, 2026: Nekosis presents STUPIDBIRTHDAYSHT '26* live set

Now this was awesome. This is my first ever live set, performed for my birthday, and I honestly did not expect it to go as well as it did!

Quick backstory: I first reached out to pukesquid's label KUSOMEN™ RECORDS in June asking if the label would be willing to promote the event, but was understandably turned down due to the massive URL festival they had going on that month, MOESCATPARTY (which, for the record, absolutely no hard feelings considering I turned up to it and it was probably the best 7 hours of my life), so I turned to Nyaotic, who accepted!

And when I say live set, I mean live set. The mixing was live, the VJ was live, all of it. I used Serato with a Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200 MK2 to mix the tracks and Resolume for VJ, using my numpad to switch between the scenes for each song. It was simultaneously livestreamed and performed in-person at my house at my actual birthday party!

There was a great turnout both IRL and on Twitch (despite some technical difficulties at the beginning), and I really can't thank everyone enough for showing up to it! I'm 100% planning on doing more sets in the future! Maybe next year, STUPIDBIRTHDAYSH*T will be a multi-artist festival, who knows...?

Oh, and speaking of KUSOMEN™, I definitely have a release with them planned, stay tuned ;)

And here we are! I figured it would be fun to write this up and maybe interesting for some of you all to see how Nekosis started and progressed throughout the years. Thank you so much for reading this far! I plan to update this as more Nekosis stuff happens, so please do keep checking back!
